The Tatara Observatory is a scenic spot in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, providing magnificent views of the Tatara Bridge on the Shimanami Kaido. The Shimanami Kaido is a roughly 70km long road connecting islands in the Seto Inland Sea with bridges. The Tatara Bridge, a 1,175m long suspension bridge, is renowned as one of the most beautiful bridges in the Seto Inland Sea. Located almost directly above the Tatara Bridge, the Tatara Observatory allows you to experience the bridge's power and beauty up close. From the observatory, you can see not only the Tatara Bridge but also the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, and even Hiroshima Prefecture in the distance. On a clear day, you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the blue sea and sky, and the lush green islands. At sunset, you can witness the beautiful sight of the sun sinking into the Seto Inland Sea. The observatory is equipped with a parking lot, restrooms, and a rest area, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery at your leisure.
