Emma-dai (Jigokudani Observatory) is an observation deck located in Murodo-daira on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Overlooking Jigokudani (Hell Valley) from this vantage point, you'll witness a truly hellish landscape born from active volcanic activity. The pungent smell of sulfur hangs in the air, and steam rises from the ground, offering a palpable sense of the earth's power. While Jigokudani itself once featured hot springs, the current emission of gases makes it inaccessible.
