The Mojiko Retro Observation Deck is located on the 31st floor of the Mojiko Retro Heimart in Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City. From a height of 103 meters, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Kanmon Straits, Ganryu Island, and the charming streets of Mojiko Retro. The Kanmon Straits separate Kyushu and Honshu, and have thrived as a major shipping center since ancient times. From the observation deck, you can see ships passing through the Kanmon Straits and the Kanmon Bridge. Ganryu Island is a small island in the Kanmon Straits, known as the site of the duel between Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro. You can get a close-up view of Ganryu Island from the observation deck. Mojiko Retro is an area that recreates the townscape of Mojiko Port, which flourished as an international trading port in the Meiji era (1868-1912). Retro-style buildings line the streets, evoking a sense of history. You can get a panoramic view of the Mojiko Retro streetscape from the observation deck. At night, the Kanmon Straits and the streets of Mojiko Retro are beautifully illuminated, offering a romantic nightscape. The observation deck also has a digital telescope and a cafe. The digital telescope allows you to magnify the scenery for 100 yen. The cafe offers tea and light meals while enjoying the view.
