Ozekiyaman Park

Overview

Ozekiyaman Park is located on the mid-slope of 160-meter-high Ozekiyaman in Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. In the early Edo period, Hiroshima clan daimyo Fukushima Masanori stationed Ozeki Masakatsu in Miyoshi, and a castle was built here, giving rise to the name "Ozekiyaman." Later, the Asano clan succeeded the Fukushima clan, and when Asano Nagaharu, the first lord of the Bingo Miyoshi Domain, took office, an astronomical observatory called "Hatsumo-kaku" was established on the summit of Ozekiyaman. Even now, the park preserves many historical remnants, including a statue of Akari-hime (Yosen-in), the third daughter of Asano Nagaharu, and a monument dedicated to Nakamura Kenji, a poet of the Araragi school. Ozekiyaman Park offers beautiful scenery throughout the year, with cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant autumn foliage. From the summit observation deck, you can enjoy panoramic views of Miyoshi city and the distant mountains, experiencing the magnificence of nature. Well-maintained walking paths and trails wind through the park, providing a relaxing setting for a forest bathing experience.
