Located in the Hoshino area, "Tombo-no-Yu" is a day-trip onsen facility surrounded by the rich natural beauty of Karuizawa.
Since its opening in 1915, it has been a beloved hot spring in the summer resort town of Karuizawa, boasting a traditional "onsen kake nagashi" (hot spring flowing directly from the source) experience.
Many cultural figures, including Kitahara Hakushu and Yosano Akiko, are said to have bathed here.
At Tombo-no-Yu, you can fully immerse yourself in the forest, soothe your body and mind in the ancient hot spring, and revitalize your spirit.
The onsen kake nagashi hot spring features an indoor bath, an open-air bath, a sauna, a cold bath, and a drinking fountain, allowing you to refresh both your body and mind.
The indoor bath is deep enough to comfortably submerge your shoulders (90cm for men, 85cm for women). Enjoy the soothing feeling of being surrounded by nature, integrated with the surrounding trees.
The open-air bath is seamlessly connected to the indoor bath and a pond, reflecting the changing seasons and time on the water's surface.
The sauna maintains a temperature of approximately 80-90 degrees Celsius, featuring an automatic low-temperature steam function every 20 minutes. Enjoy jazz music while gazing at the seasonal scenery through the window. The cold bath uses spring water from the nearby wild bird forest, maintaining a stable temperature of approximately 13 degrees Celsius year-round.
After your bath, enjoy seasonal drinks, craft beer, and soft serve ice cream at the adjacent cafe, "Hungry Spot".
It's also recommended as a resting place or meeting point.
After your bath, taking a break on a bench in the shade and feeling the cool mountain air is also recommended.
Recommended for those who want to relieve daily fatigue and relax in a nature-filled space.
