B-Con Plaza

Overview

B-Con Plaza is the nickname for the Beppu International Convention Center, completed in 1995. Designed by the world-famous architect Kisho Kurokawa, its unique design is captivating. The facility boasts various event spaces, including a convention hall with a maximum capacity of 8,000 people and the Philharmonia Hall, a dedicated music hall. It hosts a wide range of events, including conferences, exhibitions, and sporting events. The grounds also feature the "Global Tower," a 125-meter-tall observation tower offering panoramic views of Beppu Bay and the city lights. Beppu's nightscape is registered as a Japan Night View Heritage site, and the contrast between the colors of the sky during magic hour and the gradually illuminating cityscape is breathtaking. B-Con Plaza is beloved by both tourists and locals as a place to fully experience the charm of Beppu.
