Shirakawa Spring

Shirakawa Spring, located in Shirakawa, Ueki-machi, Kita-ku, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, is a spring selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Famous Waters by the Ministry of the Environment. Throughout the year, 60 tons of crystal-clear water, at a constant temperature of 14℃ (57.2°F), gushes forth every minute, forming the source of the Shirakawa River which flows through the center of Kumamoto City. Shirakawa Spring is a tranquil and beautiful place surrounded by lush nature. A well-maintained walking path winds through the area, offering shaded walkways that make it relatively cool even in summer.
