Sasaguri Kyudai no Mori is a vibrant forest covering approximately 17 hectares, part of the Kyushu University Faculty of Agriculture's extensive practice forest in Wada, Sasaguri-machi, Kasuya-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture.
Opened to the public by Kyushu University to promote the well-being of local residents, this natural haven offers a tranquil escape from city life, conveniently located just a short distance from urban areas.
A roughly 2km-long walking path winds around Kamata Pond, an agricultural reservoir at the forest's center. The path is covered with wood chips, making it easy to walk and suitable for families with young children.
Diverse tree species thrive within the forest, including sudajii, ara Kashi, tabunoki, kusunoki, and yamamomo, creating a breathtaking landscape that changes beautifully with the seasons.
However, the most notable and Instagram-famous feature is the metasequoia (ラクウショウ) trees planted in Kamata Pond. These water-loving conifers display their roots emerging from the water's surface, creating a surreal and enchanting scene.
Sasaguri Kyudai no Mori provides a perfect escape from the city's hustle and bustle, offering a chance to reconnect with nature and rejuvenate your mind and body. We highly encourage you to visit!
