Kokura Castle is a flatland castle located in Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Also known as the "Hydrangea Castle," it was built in 1602 (Keicho 7) by Hosokawa Tadaoki, who was assigned to rule the western region after the Battle of Sekigahara. Destroyed by fire in 1864 (Genji 1), its main keep was reconstructed in 1959 (Showa 34). The current keep, a reinforced concrete structure, stands approximately 60 meters tall. From its top floor, you can enjoy panoramic views of Kokura city and the Kanmon Straits.
