Tobe Zoo

Overview

Tobe Zoo is a beloved zoo in Tobe-cho, Iyo District, Ehime Prefecture. Opened in 1970, it now houses approximately 140 species and 600 animals. The zoo is broadly divided into four areas: "Asian Forest," "Wetland," "Tropical Forest," and "Farm," each offering encounters with diverse animals. Penguins that appear to fly underwater, impressive polar bears, and adorable families of African elephants are among the many diverse animals on display, captivating children with their unique behaviors and ecosystems. Beyond observing animals up close, the zoo offers various events for all ages, including feeding experiences and animal interaction events. Feeding experiences allow direct interaction with animals, while interaction events provide opportunities to learn about animal care and behavior from zookeepers and even touch some animals.
