The Hyōnasa Sea Turtle Museum Caretta is a museum dedicated to sea turtles located in Minami-cho, Kaibu-gun, Tokushima Prefecture. It's considered one of the world's rare sea turtle museums, with its name "Caretta" derived from the scientific name for the loggerhead sea turtle. The first floor showcases taxidermied sea turtles from around the world and the evolutionary process of turtles. The second floor features sea turtle quizzes and a 120-inch high-definition theater for sea turtle education. Outdoors, they keep sea turtles over 1 meter long. They even house a world-record-holding individual born in 1950 (Showa 25), with a clearly documented age.
The Hyōnasa Sea Turtle Museum Caretta allows you to learn about the ecology and evolution of sea turtles, as well as their conservation efforts. The museum also displays materials and photographs related to sea turtles, offering a deeper understanding of their world.
The Hyōnasa Sea Turtle Museum Caretta is a recommended spot for sea turtle enthusiasts and families with children.
