Kamimusubi Shrine

Overview

Kamimusubi Shrine is an ancient shrine located in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, mentioned in the Izumo Fudoki (Izumo Province Fudoki). Like Izumo Taisha, it's dedicated to Ōkuninushi-no-mikoto and is believed to offer blessings for matchmaking and warding off evil. Its founding predates Izumo Taisha, and it has long been revered as the second most important shrine in Izumo Province (Izumo-koku Ni-no-miya). The main hall, an Important Cultural Property, is a stunning structure painted in vibrant vermillion, filled with a sacred atmosphere. Within the grounds stands the 'Kamimusubi no Ōsugi,' a giant sacred cedar tree that commands an awe-inspiring presence. Kamimusubi Shrine, a historic shrine that has garnered the faith of people for generations, captivates visitors with its sacred ambiance, leaving them feeling refreshed and invigorated.
