Cld.Days: (1) Mondays and the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. ※In 2024, the museum will also be open on Tuesdays (except for the day after a national holiday). Please check the calendar. Kumanosuke Minakata was a naturalist, folklorist, and philosopher who flourished from the Meiji to the Showa periods. While known for his research on slime molds, he also conducted research in various fields, including folklore, botany, zoology, anthropology, philosophy, religion, and history. The Minakata Kumanosuke Memorial Hall introduces Minakata's life and diverse research achievements using extensive materials, videos, and models. Highlights include a recreation of Minakata's study and an exhibit showcasing new species of slime molds he discovered. The adjacent Former Residence of Kumanosuke Minakata is the house where he spent his later years. Visitors can stroll through his study and garden, imagining his life immersed in research and gaining a deeper understanding of his philosophy and way of life.
