Shirahama Beach, located in Shirahama-cho, Wakayama Prefecture, boasts a stunning white sand beach composed of quartz sand. The contrast with the clear blue sea is captivating. Historically significant, Shirahama Beach is mentioned in the Kojiki (Records of Ancient Matters) and Man'yoshu (Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves), and is situated near many attractions such as Adventure World and Shirahama Energy Land. In the summer, it's bustling with beachgoers, offering opportunities for surfing, jet skiing, and other watersports. The beach also features "Shirasuna," an open-air onsen (hot spring) with naturally flowing hot spring water, offering a unique mixed bathing experience (swimsuits required). Shirahama Beach truly embodies the perfect blend of nature, onsen, and recreational activities, making it a leading tourist destination in Wakayama Prefecture.
