Sewari-teibou is a 1.4km levee located at the confluence of the Uji and Kizu Rivers. Originally lined with pine trees, a pine wilt disease prompted a conversion to Someiyoshino cherry trees starting in 1978. Now, in spring, approximately 250 cherry trees burst into bloom, creating a magnificent cherry blossom avenue. Walking through this stunning cherry blossom tunnel is a truly captivating experience. Sewari-teibou is part of the Yodo River National Park and features, in addition to the cherry blossoms, well-maintained walking paths and cycling routes. The walking paths offer a leisurely stroll amidst the blossoms, while the cycling routes provide an enjoyable ride with beautiful scenery. A rest facility, the "Sakura Deai-kan," offers a panoramic 360° view of the confluence of the three rivers, including Sewari-teibou, from its observation tower. The Sakura Deai-kan also has a space selling locally grown vegetables and provides bicycle repair parts and rental services, making it a popular gathering place for both tourists and locals alike. Sewari-teibou is beloved for its natural beauty throughout the year, not just during cherry blossom season.
