The area is also steeped in the legend of Urashima Tarō. The tale of Urashima Tarō opening his treasure box here after returning from Ryugu-jo (the Dragon Palace) adds to Nezame-no-toko's mystical ambiance.
While visiting Nezame-no-toko, be sure to check out Rinkōji Temple as well. Rinkōji Temple preserves the legend of Urashima Tarō at Nezame-no-toko, and offers stunning views of the gorge from its observation deck. The admission fee is 200 yen.
