Held at Fuji Motosuko Resort at the foot of majestic Mt. Fuji, the 'Fuji Shibazakura Festival' is a grand event that paints Yamanashi's spring landscape with vibrant colors. The awe-inspiring sight of approximately 500,000 moss phlox plants blooming in full glory, combined with the snow-capped Mt. Fuji, is truly a breathtaking spectacle. This magnificent carpet of various shades of pink ushers visitors into a fantastical world.
In particular, the 'Upside-Down Fuji,' where Mt. Fuji is reflected upside down in Ryujin Pond at the heart of the venue, attracts many photography enthusiasts as a prime photo spot.
In recent years, three major Instagrammable spots – 'Pop-Up Picture Book World,' 'A Little Boat Traveling Through a Pink Sea,' and 'The Yellow Door to Happiness' – created in collaboration with students from Tokyo University of the Arts' Department of Design, have been installed, further expanding the joy of photography. Additionally, an English Garden recreating the charming world of Peter Rabbit is also on site, offering delightful entertainment for both children and adults. Local gourmet foods from around Mt. Fuji and exclusive souvenirs are available at the venue, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the festival with all five senses. Peak bloom usually coincides with Japan's Golden Week holiday period, but as blooming conditions vary each year, it's highly recommended to check in advance. Mt. Fuji on a clear day is exceptionally stunning, promising the most spectacular views.
