Fugaku Wind Cave is a 201-meter-long lava cave located in the Aokigahara forest at the foot of Mount Fuji in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture. It was formed when lava from a Mount Fuji eruption cooled and solidified, leaving behind a void. The cave's temperature remains low throughout the year, making it a popular summer refuge from the heat. Inside, you'll find various rock formations created as the lava cooled, along with mineral formations resembling stalactites. Near the entrance, you can see boxes once used to store silkworm cocoons, taking advantage of the cave's cool air. Fugaku Wind Cave offers a mystical experience, allowing you to feel the raw power of Mount Fuji's volcanic past and its connection to human history. While the cave is illuminated, some areas remain dark, so a flashlight is recommended. The cave floor can be slippery in places, so wear comfortable shoes.
