Sumida Park is a historic park that was developed as part of the reconstruction project after the Great Kanto Earthquake. The cherry trees along the Sumida River are said to have been planted by order of the eighth Shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune, and have been popular as a cherry blossom viewing spot since the Edo period. Within the park, there is Ushijima Shrine, one of the Sumida River Seven Lucky Gods, where you can also enjoy visiting. In recent years, new spots such as TOKYO mizumachi have been created, making it an attractive space where tradition and modernity are fused. A cherry blossom festival is held in the spring, attracting many tourists.
