Hodosan Ropeway is operated by Hodokogyo Co., Ltd., a Chichibu Railway affiliate, and is a historic ropeway that began operations in 1961. The 2,728-foot journey from the Sanroku Station to the summit station takes about 5 minutes, with two gondolas, "Monkey Go" and "Bambi Go," reciprocating between the summit and the base. The gondolas are named after the Japanese macaques and deer kept at Hodosan Small Animal Park. At the summit, there are Japanese allspice gardens, plum gardens, etc., and the Japanese allspice that blooms in winter in particular dyes the entire area yellow and envelops it in a sweet fragrance. In addition, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the magnificent Chichibu mountain range from the summit, and enjoy the nature in each of the four seasons.
