Yutaki Falls, cascading from the southern end of Lake Yunoko in the Oku-Nikko region of Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, is an awe-inspiring spectacle, measuring 70 meters high and up to 25 meters wide. Ranked among the three famous waterfalls of Oku-Nikko alongside Kegon Falls and Ryuzu Falls, it's also considered one of the five famous waterfalls of Nikko, along with Kegon Falls, Ryuzu Falls, Urami Falls, and Kiryu Falls. The water flowing down Yutaki Falls becomes the Yukawa River, which flows through Senjogahara, a vast high-moorland, before reaching Lake Chuzenji via Ryuzu Falls.
Located at the southern shore of Lake Yunoko, at the foot of Mount Nikko Shirane, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, Yutaki Falls tumbles down a slope. While hot springs abound in the area around Lake Yunoko, including the Nikko Yumoto Onsen hot spring resort, the waterfall itself is fed by fresh water, not hot spring water.
