It's about a 40-minute walk from the parking lot to the Shojinzawa Spring group. The entrance involves a steep and slippery climb, so trekking shoes are highly recommended. While it's challenging at first, the climb becomes relatively easier from the mid-point onwards. Bottling some of the spring water and taking a refreshing drink at the source is incredibly rewarding!

Shojinzawa Spring is a spring located at an elevation of 590 meters on the foothills of Kogenyama mountain, near the border of Shioya Town and Yaita City, Tochigi Prefecture. It boasts a daily flow of 65,000 tons of water, maintaining a consistent temperature of around 11℃ throughout the year. The surrounding area is a broadleaf primeval forest, and the underground water flow, thanks to the source forest, prevents water shortages or freezing even in winter. The water is natural alkaline ionized water, characterized by its cool, soft taste. In 1997, it was ranked number one nationwide for its deliciousness among entries from all 37 prefectures in Japan, and it has consistently ranked highly ever since. It's also selected as one of the "100 Famous Waters" by the Ministry of the Environment.
Shojinzawa Spring captivates many visitors with its abundant nature and clear water. Well-maintained walking paths allow visitors to enjoy the forest bathing experience while observing the spring. You can also drink the spring water—its cool, mellow taste is truly special. Shojinzawa Spring offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
