INFO
The weather can be unpredictable, so please be sure to dress accordingly and bring appropriate gear. While the mountain trails are well-maintained, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Note that snow may remain until around June.
The Hachimantai Summit Nature Trail is a walking path located near the summit of Hachimantai, at an elevation of 1,613 meters. Starting from the Migaeshi Pass parking area, the trail circles the Hachimantai summit and Hachiman-numa, offering a leisurely hiking experience.
From the Hachimantai summit, a 360-degree panoramic view unfolds, showcasing distant mountains and lakes on clear days. Hachiman-numa, a lake formed by volcanic activity, is particularly impressive, its serene surface reflecting the blue sky.
Boardwalks wind through the wetlands surrounding Hachiman-numa, where numerous marsh plants such as *hinakura* (dianthus superbus) and *watasuge* (cotton grass) bloom vibrantly. From the spring *mizubashou* (skunk cabbage) to summer *himeshakunaage* (dwarf rhododendron) and *kobaikeisou* (false hellebore), and autumn's autumn leaves, the wildflower meadows of the wetlands paint a vibrant picture of Hachimantai's four seasons.
The trail also offers diverse scenery, including *Aomori Todomatsu* (Sakhalin fir) forests. Enjoy a relaxing stroll through the woods, basking in the dappled sunlight.
The Hachimantai Summit Nature Trail is an easy hiking course suitable for beginners. Create unforgettable memories while enjoying the majestic natural beauty.
