The Oyamahirira Grand Festival (also known as the Summer Mountain Opening) is a vital ritual at Mt. Ishizuchi. It marks the sacred journey of the deities from the base of the mountain toward the summit.

Full hiking gear and appropriate clothing are required for the ascent.
Etiquette
It is customary to greet fellow hikers as 'O-nobori-san' (climbers) or 'O-kudari-san' (descenders).
Climbing Requirements
Registration is required at Jojusha or Tsuchigoya Yorai-den. You must carry a Mountain Ticket and wear the designated ribbon on your left shoulder.
