About Ohitaki-sai Festival at Mogami Inari
- Prepare for the Cold: As the ceremony takes place in the early morning of December, it will be very chilly. Bring a heavy coat, gloves, and heat packs (kairo) to stay warm.
- Arrive Early for the Ritual: The lighting ceremony on the first day begins at 6:00 AM. If you wish to experience the sacred ritual in the crisp morning air, an early arrival is highly recommended.
- Immerse in Tradition: This is a unique chance to touch the spiritual culture of Japan through the ritual of warming oneself by the flames to pray for health and longevity.
