The Tamukurigawa Sakura Promenade is a renowned cherry blossom destination located along the banks of the Tamukugawa River, which flows through the residential areas of eastern Yao City, Osaka. Approximately 700 Yoshino cherry trees (Somei Yoshino) line the river for about 5 kilometers, creating a magnificent landscape that harmonizes with the flowing water. The most striking feature is the 'cherry blossom tunnel' effect, where the trees lean in from both banks to create a canopy of pink blossoms.
This beautiful scenery is the result of long-standing community efforts. Since around 1965 (Showa 40), local residents have worked together to plant and maintain these cherry trees. The dedication of the local community has nurtured these 700 Yoshino cherry trees, which now serve as a cherished symbol of the region's natural beauty and local pride.
The ultimate highlight is the continuous 5-kilometer stretch of Yoshino cherry blossoms. From the riverside walking paths, visitors can look up to see a breathtaking tunnel of flowers covering the sky. The peak viewing season is typically from late March to mid-April, a time when the soft pink hues of the blossoms reflect beautifully on the river surface.

The Tamukurigawa Sakura Promenade is conveniently located near Kintetsu Kawachi-Yamamoto Station and Kintetsu Takayasu Station. Due to its excellent access from the stations, you can easily combine your visit with a stroll through the surrounding residential and commercial areas.
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes for your stroll, as the riverside paths follow the natural terrain and may have uneven surfaces. While there is no entrance fee, it is useful to carry some cash if you plan to purchase food or drinks at nearby shops. Please be aware that English signage and support are limited in this area, so it is helpful to prepare any necessary information in advance.
