Sakatsu Park is a comprehensive park located in Sakatsu, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, where nature and history seamlessly blend. Established following the development of the Takahashi River in 1951, the park has been a beloved community space for over 60 years. Designed around the theme of 'Water and Cherry Blossoms,' it offers a rich landscape shaped by the flowing Takahashi River. It is particularly famous as a scenic spot where approximately 500 cherry trees bloom in full splendor every spring, drawing many visitors.
The history of this park is deeply intertwined with the river improvement projects of the Takahashi River. Within the park, you can find monuments and Western-style wooden architecture that tell the story of the river's development. During the cherry blossom season or summer, it is wise to bring a hat to protect against sunlight and plenty of water for hydration.
