The Moto Arakawa Sakura Tree-Lined Path is a stunning scenic area developed along the banks of the Moto Arakawa River, passing through the Kamatsuka district of Konosu City, Saitama Prefecture. The path features approximately 500 Yoshino cherry trees lining both sides of the river for a distance of about 2.6 km. This location has been prestigious enough to be selected as one of the '700 Famous Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan,' making it an iconic landmark of the region.
The Moto Arakawa River has a rich history, once serving as the main branch of the Arakawa River, and currently plays a vital role in local agricultural irrigation. The river basin is also a site for environmental conservation efforts; it is notably known as a habitat for the 'Musasi Tomiyo' (a rare species of dragonfly). The area is dotted with historical infrastructure, such as various bridges and weirs, reflecting a long-standing culture of living in harmony with water.

The most striking feature is the continuous tunnel of Yoshino cherry blossoms along both banks of the river. During the peak bloom, the 500 trees create a breathtaking pink canopy. Additionally, during the peak season, special events are held where traditional lanterns are lit, allowing visitors to enjoy the ethereal beauty of 'Yozakura' (night cherry blossoms) in a completely different atmosphere than the daytime.
The primary season to visit is spring (March to April), timed with the blooming of the Yoshino cherry trees. It is highly recommended to visit during the day to enjoy a peaceful stroll along the riverbanks, and then return in the evening to witness the magical light-up events. The contrast between the bright, sunny daytime scenery and the soft, illuminated night scenery offers two distinct ways to enjoy the landscape.

The main activity is a leisurely stroll along the well-maintained riverbank paths. It is a perfect place to connect with nature and feel the changing seasons. The area features several bridges, including pedestrian bridges, which provide unique elevated viewpoints to see the cherry blossoms from above the river.
The Moto Arakawa river basin is home to many other beautiful cherry blossom spots. Nearby areas such as the vicinity of Hachiman Bridge in Shirooka City or the riverbank parks in the Tsubakiya district of Hasuda City also offer wonderful tree-lined paths. Furthermore, the nearby Iwatsuki Castle Ruins Park in Iwatsuki Ward, Saitama City, is another great destination for those interested in historical landscapes.
