The Hakusan Shirakawa-go White Road is a 33.3km mountain toll road that connects Shirakawa Village in Gifu Prefecture with Hakusan City in Ishikawa Prefecture, passing through the scenic Hakusan National Park. This route traverses diverse terrains ranging from 500m to 1,450m in altitude, offering a driving experience through dynamic natural landscapes. Visitors can encounter high-altitude plants, majestic waterfalls, and even the mystical 'sea of clouds' (unkai), providing a special escape from daily life.
Historically, this route has served as an important connection between the rich natural areas of Hakusan and Shirakawa-go. Note: The road is closed during the winter season (from November 11th to early June), so please check the opening status before your visit.
