This location provides an incredibly close and majestic view of the Tokachi mountain range, surrounded by vast, peaceful farmlands. Situated approximately 7.5 kilometers from Kamifurano Station, the journey up the hilly terrain is part of the experience, as the landscape shifts and reveals breathtaking vistas as you ascend.

The primary draw of Asahino Yamabiko Kouchi is the unobstructed, close-up view of the Tokachi mountain range. As you reach the marker post, the massive presence of Mount Tokachi unfolds before your eyes. Beyond the roadside trees, you will see wide-open farmlands, and the most enchanting part of the visit is the gradual process of the mountains appearing closer and more imposing as you drive through the changing scenery.
The best time to visit is from April to September. Please note that the area is not accessible during the winter season. Since it is located along a driving route, it is highly recommended to visit during daylight hours to fully appreciate the changing colors and the clarity of the mountain views.
This spot is a perfect stop on a scenic driving course through the Asahino area. By turning left from Route 291 and driving up the hills, you can experience the dynamic way the landscape transforms, offering a sense of discovery as the view evolves with every turn.
The site is located about 7.5 kilometers from Kamifurano Station. It sits along Route 291, a scenic road that leads toward the Tokachi-dake Onsen hot spring area, making it an ideal stop during a hot spring excursion.
