The Tokugawaen Dashi Parade is a prestigious tradition where 5 magnificent festival floats (Dashi), typically seen in the Tsutsui-cho and Dekimachi Tenno Festivals of Nagoya, gather at the plaza in front of the Tokugawa Art Museum. This event offers a breathtaking view of these historic floats set against the backdrop of the serene Tokugawaen Japanese garden, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The main highlight is the sight of the 5 elaborately decorated floats standing together amidst the stunning scenery of the Japanese garden. Witnessing these traditional floats surrounded by the fresh greenery of early summer and the blooming Iris flowers (Hanashobu) provides a truly special, tranquil experience away from the bustle of daily life. The event takes place at the 'Tokugawa Art Museum Plaza' within Tokugawaen.
This event features a very limited window for viewing the full collection of floats. We highly recommend arriving at the plaza around 11:00 AM to ensure you see all 5 floats together. As early June can be humid and part of the rainy season, please stay hydrated and manage your physical comfort.
