Hyuga Yakushi Hojobo is a historic temple located in Kanagawa Prefecture. Renowned as one of the three great Yakushi temples in Japan, it has long been revered as a sacred site for praying for health, longevity, and the prevention of illness. As this is a first-come, first-served event, the atmosphere is incredibly lively and vibrant. The New Year season is also an excellent time to visit, as you can find limited-edition Goshuin and adorable 'Usagi-san Daruma' (rabbit-themed Daruma) charms to celebrate the start of a new year. The autumn season is also highly recommended for those wishing to enjoy the colorful seasonal landscapes.
Visitors can experience the tradition of receiving a 'Goshuin' (temple stamp). For example, special commemorative Goshuin designed for specific years (such as the Year of the Rabbit) are highly collectible and can only be obtained during those times. During the New Year, you can also find auspicious items like the 'Tobitoba Yakushi Nyorai Omamori.' These are not just charms but a way to experience Japanese seasonal aesthetics. Furthermore, during certain festivals, you can experience the unique connection between Japanese food culture and faith through the serving of traditional porridge.
