Yashio Ikoi no Mori is a recreation facility harmoniously integrated with nature, located near the Yashio Dam in Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture. The facility is developed as a hub for tourism and recreation that utilizes the natural environment surrounding the Yashio Dam. The scenery around the dam changes beautifully with each season, making the view of the landscape reflected in the dam lake a significant viewpoint for photographers and tourists alike.

The greatest appeal of Yashio Ikoi no Mori is the changing scenery of the dam area. In spring, it is known as a famous spot for yellow cherry blossoms, where you can enjoy the blossoms reflected in the water. From mid-to-late October, the area reaches its peak autumn foliage, with the surrounding landscape turning brilliant shades of red and yellow. The facility features walking paths that allow you to experience nature up close. Additionally, the site includes an auto-camping area with 30 sites and a park golf course, providing a perfect environment for outdoor sports and relaxation.
There are various ways to enjoy the site depending on the season. In late April, the contrast between the cherry blossoms and the dam lake is stunning, making it an ideal time for flower viewing. In mid-to-late October, the autumn colors are at their most beautiful, attracting many visitors to photograph the reflection on the lake. The facility is generally operational from late April to early November. Please note that from mid-November to mid-April, parts of the facility may be closed due to heavy snowfall. Daytime is the best time for strolling around the dam or enjoying park golf.

Visitors can enjoy authentic outdoor experiences at the facility. The auto-camping area offers sites with electricity (3,500 JPY per night) and without electricity (2,500 JPY per night). To make your visit easier, rental services for camping gear such as tents and cooking utensils are available, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors with minimal preparation. The park golf course also offers an active way to engage with the surrounding nature.
The facility is located near Mount Yashio, which stands at an elevation of 713m. The foot of the mountain is home to a primeval beech forest, perfect for hiking while enjoying the fresh greenery in spring or the colorful foliage in autumn. The entire area is a vast expanse of rich, untouched nature.
When enjoying outdoor activities, please bring appropriate clothing and gear for the season. For camping and walking, comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are highly recommended. The facility includes a center house equipped with coin showers, a laundry area, a shop, and a cafeteria.
