The Yamaguchi-ke Residence is a precious folk house estimated to date back to the mid-19th century. Its most striking feature is the 'Jogo-zukuri' (or Yoka-dani) roof structure, which appears nearly square from above and features a valley-like depression in the center. This unique roof design is an extremely rare architectural style found only in specific areas of southeastern Saga Prefecture and southwestern Fukuoka Prefecture. In recognition of its significant architectural value, it was designated as a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property in January 2011.
