Opened in October 1985, the center was established on the site adjacent to the former Yaizu Food Wholesale Center. It is managed by the Yaizu Suisan Shinko Center Co., Ltd., a third-sector company established by Yaizu City and local merchant associations. For decades, it has played a vital role in delivering the rich bounty of the sea to consumers. As the facility ages, there are ongoing discussions regarding a potential future relocation closer to the Yaizu Fishing Port to further enhance its functionality.
The facility is divided into a main building (comprising Center Buildings A, B, C, and D) and an annex, each offering unique experiences. You will find specialty shops for premium tuna, stores dedicated to Shizuoka's famous Sakura shrimp and whitebait (shirasu), and various vendors selling processed goods like dried fish and seaweed. Additionally, the center is packed with dining options, including seafood bowl restaurants, yakiniku, ramen shops, and cafes, allowing you to enjoy shopping and dining in one trip. The seasonal variety of seafood makes every visit a new discovery.
The facility is generally open from 9:00 to 17:00. To enjoy the freshest seafood and the most popular seafood bowls, it is highly recommended to visit during the early morning hours. The center features large-scale dining facilities like 'Sakana Dai-Shokudo Nagisa,' which becomes very lively during lunch hours. Since the types of fish available change depending on the season, your visit timing will significantly influence the flavors you can experience.
