Wakasono Park is a beautiful, rose-themed park located in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture. Its most significant feature is the 'Rose Garden,' developed to allow citizens to enjoy the beauty of the rose, the official flower of the city. The garden is home to an impressive collection of approximately 1,750 rose bushes across 180 different varieties. The park is designed for relaxation, featuring water elements like fountains, an open lawn area, and an observation deck that provides a panoramic view of the entire rose garden, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in nature.
The rose garden was established in 1994 (Heisei 6) with the wish to share the charm of roses with the local community. Since then, the park underwent a significant renewal process over a five-year period starting in 2015 (Heisei 27) to become an even more enriched facility. The park serves as a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike, acting as a place to experience the changing seasons and local culture through the blooming cycles of the roses.

The park showcases a diverse range of roses that will satisfy even dedicated rose enthusiasts. The sight of red, pink, and yellow roses blooming in abundance is truly breathtaking. Key spots include the splashing fountains, the spacious lawn areas, and the observation deck, which offers a high-angle view of the rose garden. The natural scenery changes its expression with every season, offering something new for every visit.
There are two peak blooming seasons for the roses. The first is from early May to early June, and the second is from late October to mid-November. Visiting during these periods ensures you see the roses at their most magnificent and colorful. While the bright daylight hours are perfect for recreation around the fountains and lawns, we recommend visiting from the morning to early afternoon on sunny days to best enjoy the vivid colors of the roses.
Wakasono Park is not just for viewing flowers; it is also a place for physical activity. The park is equipped with one ground and six tennis courts for sports enthusiasts. There are also playground equipment (athletic facilities) and lawn areas, making it an ideal destination for family recreation. Whether you want to relax in nature or feel the seasonal atmosphere through the roses, the park offers multifaceted ways to enjoy your time.
The area surrounding the park is a residential neighborhood, serving as a peaceful part of daily life for the community. You can enjoy a relaxing stroll through the local streets while visiting the nearby essential facilities and local amenities.
