Wada Nagahama Beach is a beautiful coastal area located on the Miura Peninsula in Yokosoka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is also affectionately known by locals as "Nahama." During the peak summer season, which runs from July 5th to August 31st, the area officially opens as a designated swimming beach, serving as a vibrant hub for leisure and marine sports. The beach features a sandy area of approximately 2,500 m², making it an ideal destination for swimming, windsurfing, sailing, and sea kayaking.
This area has long been cherished by local residents for its rich natural beauty and the scenic coastline of the Miura Peninsula. Over time, it has evolved from a natural coastal landscape into a well-developed leisure zone. Today, it serves not only as a popular swimming spot but also as a professional base for various marine sports. The surrounding area is also home to facilities like Soleil Hill, which helps promote the natural environment and local leisure culture.
During the summer, a seasonal beach club called "Wada Nagahama Gourmet Park" is established on the shore. This facility offers a variety of food and beverage services, as well as rental equipment for beach activities. A unique feature of this location is that while the swimming area is seasonal, the surrounding waters are used year-round for activities such as yachting, windsurfing, and sea kayaking. The beach features gray sand and the waves are generally gentle, typically reaching knee to waist height, making it suitable for various skill levels.
The primary season for beach-going is from early July through the end of August. During this period, the beach club operates from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing meals, refreshments, and rental services. Even outside this peak window, the area remains a popular spot for marine sports enthusiasts. For the best experience, visiting during the bright daylight hours is recommended for swimming, water sports, and relaxing on the sand.
