Usoiso Beach is a beautiful seaside destination situated along the coast of Iwaki City in Fukushima Prefecture. It is specifically open during a set period in the summer, offering a wide, shallow shoreline that is perfect for families and travelers. The area is well-maintained with essential facilities such as parking lots and restrooms, making it a reliable spot for summer leisure activities.
The facilities at Usoisol Beach were part of a coastal development project following the Great East Japan Earthquake. This included the construction of sea walls and the improvement of infrastructure such as parking lots, restrooms, and park areas to enhance the leisure environment. While nearby beaches like the former Tomoma or former Aiiso beaches faced changes in status (with some closures decided in May 2022), Usoiso Beach remains a vital seasonal destination for the region.

During its seasonal opening, visitors can enjoy swimming in the refreshing waters. The beach is highly functional, featuring three dedicated foot-washing shower stations to help rinse off sand easily. Accessibility is a major plus, with a large parking area accommodating approximately 350 vehicles, making it easy to reach by car. The changing scenery of the coastline throughout the day offers a peaceful and beautiful experience.
Please note that this is a seasonal facility and is not open year-round. For the 2025 season, the official opening period is scheduled from July 19th to August 17th. If you plan to enjoy swimming, you must visit within this specific window. The beach is typically lively during the daytime, though- much like any coastal area- conditions can change based on weather and sea state.

While swimming is the primary activity during the summer, there are strict local regulations to ensure safety and order. The use of jet skis within the swimming area is strictly prohibited by local ordinance. Additionally, activities such as rock fishing, marine sports, barbecues, and campfires (bonfires) are not allowed. Visitors are expected to follow these rules to maintain a safe and pleasant environment for everyone.
The area around Usoiso Beach is rich with tourism options in Iwaki City. Popular nearby attractions include the 'Aquamarine Fukushima' aquarium and the famous 'Sparesort Hawaiian Water Palace' (Spa Resort Hawaiians), which offers hot springs and tropical leisure. The well-developed coastal roads also make this a wonderful area for scenic drives and coastal walks.
