Uraminotaki Natural Flower Garden is a lush, natural park located in Omura City, Nagasaki Prefecture. Its most striking feature is the magnificent 30-meter waterfall surrounded by rich, diverse vegetation. During the spring season, the area transforms into a breathtaking landscape where various species of rhododendrons bloom in abundance. Visitors can feel the raw power of nature through the rhythmic sound of the falling water and the vibrant colors of the flora.
This region has long been cherished for its abundant natural beauty, serving as a scenic spot centered around the waterfall. Today, it is managed as a 'Natural Flower Garden' (Shizen Kaen), with a focus on the preservation of plant life and the maintenance of the natural landscape. The garden places a special emphasis on the cultivation of rhododendrons, serving as a botanical destination that showcases the changing faces of nature through different seasons.
The dynamic spectacle of the 30-meter waterfall is the centerpiece of this location. A well-maintained walking path leads visitors close to the base of the waterfall, allowing for an up-close view of the water's intensity and spray. From early April to early May, the garden is home to approximately 6,000 rhododendrons. With 45 different varieties from around the world on display, the contrast between the colorful blossoms and the white, rushing water creates a truly unforgettable scenery.
The best time to visit is during the 'Rhododendron Festival' from early April to early May, when the colors are at their most intense. During this period, the variety of rhododendrons in full bloom makes the landscape exceptionally vibrant. Even outside this peak season, the park offers a peaceful experience of enjoying the sound of the waterfall and the lush greenery. We recommend visiting during daylight hours to fully appreciate the intricate details of the flowers and the mist from the falls.
Visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll along the established paths, immersing themselves in the natural environment. Walking toward the base of the waterfall allows you to experience the changing air temperature and the soothing sounds of the water. Located in Omura City, Nagasaki, the garden is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, including the nearby Omura Bay.
