Tsujido Kaihin Park is a vast prefectural park stretching along the coast of the Shonan area in Kanagawa Prefecture. Characterized by its open, breezy location facing the ocean, the park offers a variety of facilities including a jumbo pool, a traffic park, multi-purpose grounds, and wide grassy lawns. It serves as a versatile community hub where visitors can enjoy recreation and relaxation while feeling the refreshing sea breeze.
The park was developed to harmonize the rich natural environment of Shonan with seaside leisure activities. It serves as more than just a place for rest; it functions as a center for education, sports, and recreation. This is exemplified by the 'Shonan no Mori' (Forest of Shonan) located above the Route 134 tunnel and the Traffic Park designed for traffic education. The park's design also carefully considers accessibility to the seaside, utilizing the natural topography.
The park features diverse areas tailored to different interests and age groups. During the summer, the jumbo pool becomes a major attraction where many visitors enjoy playing in the water. For sports enthusiasts, the multi-purpose grounds with artificial turf provide an excellent environment for activity. The 'Shonan no Mori' area, situated above the Route 134 tunnel, is designed with gentle slopes to ensure smooth movement toward the sea. Other highlights include the traffic park and exhibition hall, which offer educational fun for children, as well as spacious grassy areas for all ages.
While the park grounds are accessible 24 hours a day, the operating hours for specific facilities vary. A visit during the summer is highly recommended to make the most of the water activities like the jumbo pool. In the gentler seasons of spring or autumn, the grassy lawns are perfect for a relaxing stroll or a picnic. Please note that while the park is managed until 21:00, specific facility hours vary, so it is best to check in advance.
A wide range of experiences is available within the park. At the Traffic Park and Traffic Exhibition Hall, visitors can learn about traffic rules and systems in an engaging way. For those looking to be active, the multi-purpose grounds with artificial turf are ideal for sports, while the grassy areas offer a peaceful space for rest. The park also hosts special events, such as universal canoe experience sessions, leveraging its seaside-adjacent environment.
The park features two main parking areas: the East Parking Lot, which is close to the jumbo pool, and the West Parking Lot, located near the Traffic Exhibition Hall. The park is situated near Route 134, a popular scenic driving route along the Shonan coastline. The surrounding area offers beautiful coastal views, making it a delightful place for a drive or a walk along the shore.
Please prepare accordingly for your planned activities. If you intend to use the grassy areas or the sports grounds, comfortable and active clothing is recommended. The parking lots are divided into East and West sections. If you wish to use specific sports facilities, please note that a prior lottery and reservation process via the 'e-kanagawa facility reservation system' is required. Please respect all park rules and maintain public etiquette to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone.
