The construction of Tokyo Dome utilized innovative technology, specifically an air-supported roof structure. Developed through projects in the 1980s and involving technical cooperation from the United States, it was born as a truly all-weather stadium. Its affectionate nickname, "BIG EGG," stands for "Big Entertainments & Golden Games," symbolizing a giant egg full of future possibilities, inspired by its rounded shape. For decades, it has functioned as a central hub for Japan's sports culture and the vibrant entertainment scene.
The most significant feature is its all-weather structure, which protects spectators from the elements. For baseball games, the stadium utilizes "FieldTurf," a long-pile artificial grass introduced in 2002 that provides a sensation very close to natural grass. Additionally, the massive full-color LED main scoreboard offers high visibility, ensuring every detail of the game is crystal clear. The stadium's capacity is designed for massive crowds, accommodating approximately 43,500 people for baseball games and up to 55,000 people for major concerts.
Because Tokyo Dome is an all-weather facility, you can enjoy events in any season. During the professional baseball season from spring to autumn, games are held at various times, including daytime and night games. Concerts and other major events often take-place in the evening, where the illuminated stadium creates a spectacular atmosphere quite different from the daytime. Since the venue is weather-proof, events proceed as scheduled even during rain or harsh weather.

As an indoor facility, it is comfortable to visit in any season. However, for long events, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and bringing a light jacket for temperature regulation. Regarding payments, most shops and restaurants within the facility accept cash, major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.), and transportation IC cards.
