The history of this area is deeply connected to the development of the Tokiwadaira housing complex, which began in 1957. The road was part of a land readjustment project by the Japan Housing Corporation to create a modern residential environment. The Yoshino cherry trees were planted simultaneously with the housing development, meaning they have grown alongside the local community for decades. In 1962, the road management was transferred to Matsudo City. Over the years, the landscape has been carefully preserved through the dedication and donations of local residents. Furthermore, the cherry trees serve as a symbol of the city's natural heritage.
The primary attraction is the continuous 2.2km stretch of Yoshino cherry blossoms. When in full bloom, the massive trees form a stunning white canopy over the road.
