Tokachi Millennium Forest is a vast forest garden in the Tokachi region of Hokkaido that seamlessly integrates forest creation, agriculture, and art. Operating under the profound concept of "passing down a legacy to 1,000 years into the future," the park focuses on coexistence with nature. The expansive lawns, the majestic views of the Hidaka Mountains, and the exquisite gardens designed with the philosophy of a world-renowned garden designer offer visitors a sense of deep healing and profound inspiration.
This location is more than just a park; it originated from "carbon offset" activities aimed at environmental contribution. It integrates diverse elements such as forests, gardens, agriculture, art, and food to protect the environment for future generations. The landscape was shaped by the vision of British garden designer Dan Pearson, ensuring harmony with the natural rhythms of the earth. Situated at the foot of the Hidaka Mountains, the site preserves and utilizes precious natural environments, such as glacial topography, as a sustainable cultural resource.

The park features diverse areas that harmonize with the natural surroundings. Highlights include the expansive green lawns, contemporary art installations using natural stones, and modern art exhibitions. The observation areas, offering panoramic views of the Hidaka mountain range, are highly popular photogenic spots. The changing colors of the flora and the vitality of nature in the crisp air fascinate visitors year-round. Additionally, art pieces crafted from local materials, such as Hakumokuseki stone, showcase the unique geological character of the region.
The peak season for visiting is from spring to autumn. You can enjoy the varying beauty of nature from late April through June, during July and August, and from September to October. During the summer months (July–August), we highly recommend strolling through the vast grasslands during the bright daylight hours. Because the colors of the plants and the overall landscape expression change significantly with the seasons, every visit offers a unique and moving experience.

There are numerous activities to help you fully enjoy the vast grounds. A standout experience is the Segway tour. Riding an eco-friendly, electric Segway allows you to feel a sense of floating as you glide through the vast grasslands, experiencing the pure forest air with all five senses. Other programs include nature observation, seasonal events, and experiences related to agriculture and food, allowing for a deep connection with the natural world.
The Tokachi region is characterized by vast farmlands and stunning landscapes. The area surrounding Tokachi Millennium Forest offers beautiful scenery, making a scenic drive while viewing the Hidaka Mountains a delightful way to travel. The region also boasts a rich food culture utilizing local ingredients, allowing you to enjoy the synergy of agriculture and nature through local gastronomy alongside your visit to the forest.

As most activities are centered around nature, we strongly recommend wearing comfortable clothing and walking shoes. If you are participating in the Segway tour, please avoid wearing skirts or high heels, and bring a bag (such as a backpack or waist pouch) that keeps your hands free. Please note that pets are not allowed to protect the natural environment. For activities requiring prior booking, please check the official website for details. For international visitors, please note that while the scenery is vast, some paths may be unpaved.
