Togakushi Ski Resort is situated in the Togakushi area of Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture. From the summit area at an altitude of 1,748m, visitors can enjoy a stunning 360-degree panorama that includes the Togakushi mountain range and the Northern Alps. On exceptionally clear days, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji. The resort spans the bases of two mountains, Mount Menou and Mount Kemanashi, and is characterized by diverse terrain that caters to all skill levels, from absolute beginners to advanced skiers.
The facility is managed by Nagano City and currently operates under the management of Togakushi Co., Ltd. It has developed into a premier ski resort that leverages the rich natural environment of the region, providing a deep connection to the seasonal beauty of the Japanese Alps.
The ski area is divided into three main sections: the Nakash社 (Nakasha) Area, the Center Area (Koshimizu Slope), and the Summit Area. The Nakasha Area features steeper slopes ideal for advanced riders, while the Center Area is perfectly suited for families with its gentle courses. The Summit Area offers an unparalleled view of the Northern Alps. For those seeking more excitement, the resort includes a freestyle park equipped with kickers and rails. Additionally, a dedicated Kids' Park is available, making it a perfect destination for young children to enjoy playing in the snow.
The peak season runs from December to March. January and February are particularly recommended as the snow quality becomes very stable, offering ideal conditions for carving through beautiful landscapes. For the best experience, visit the Summit Area during the daytime when visibility is highest. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, there is a course for you. The resort offers everything from gentle beginner runs to the challenging Champion Course with a 31-degree incline, as well as mogul courses. The freestyle park is also a major draw for those looking to practice tricks. To ensure a comfortable stay, the facility provides changing rooms, rest areas, and even a nursery/childcare area, making it an excellent choice for families.
Adjacent to the ski slopes is the 'Shinkoge Onsen' (hot spring). After a long day of skiing or snowboarding, you can relax and unwind in these soothing natural hot springs to rejuvenate your body.
Proper equipment such as ski/snowboard wear, gloves, goggles, and helmets is essential. Since temperatures can drop significantly, please prepare high-quality thermal layers and heavy outerwear.
