Todoroki Falls Park, located near the famous Ureshino Onsen hot spring district in Saga Prefecture, is a scenic destination where you can feel the raw energy of nature. The most striking feature is the 11-meter high, three-tier waterfall that produces a thunderous roar, reminiscent of a storm. The waterfall basin covers approximately 2,500 square meters, surrounded by lush, vibrant greenery. Beyond being a traditional scenic spot, the area has evolved into a modern leisure destination with the introduction of outdoor sauna and day camping facilities in 2023, making it a popular spot for wellness-seekers.
The name 'Todoroki' (meaning 'roar' or 'thunder') is derived from the powerful sound of the water cascading down the rocks. This site has long been cherished as a natural landmark of the region. The surrounding park serves as a community space where the local hot spring culture and natural beauty coexist. It offers a unique atmosphere where the silence of the forest meets the dynamic energy of the falling water.

The most iconic sight is the powerful three-tiered waterfall. The contrast between the intense force of the water hitting the basin and the serene forest surrounding it is truly breathtaking. A key highlight is the 'Takimi Bridge,' which spans the area downstream from the falls. This bridge offers a perfect vantage point to view the waterfall head-on, allowing visitors to capture stunning photos of the water's movement and the natural geological formations.
The landscape changes beautifully with the seasons. In spring (around March to April), the park is transformed by blooming cherry blossoms, creating a colorful spectacle of pink flowers against the white cascading water. During the daytime, you can experience the dynamic energy of the falls, while the evening offers a more tranquil and contemplative atmosphere. Given its proximity to the hot spring town, it is an ideal destination for a relaxing stroll after enjoying a soak in an Onsen.
Recently, the 'Ureshino Outdoor Field' has gained attention as a new experiential-type spot. Here, visitors can enjoy an outdoor sauna while gazing at the scenery of Todoroki Falls, or even try day camping. The experience of using a sauna in the open air and then feeling the natural breeze is a luxurious way to refresh both body and mind, helping you forget the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Todoroki Falls is located very close to the famous Ureshino Onsen area. It is only about a 10-minute drive from the hot spring district, making it easy to visit immediately after your bath. The area is well-equipped with nearby facilities, cafes, and scenic driving roads, making it a perfect addition to a hot spring-themed travel itinerary.
As this is a natural park, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, such as sneakers, for exploring the paths. If you plan to use the outdoor sauna or camping facilities, please bring a change of clothes and any necessary gear. Please be mindful of other visitors and the natural environment. Regarding payments, please check in advance if the specific facility or parking requires cash or supports credit cards, as policies may vary.
