Tenku no Poppy (Sky Poppy Fields) is a magnificent poppy field located at an altitude of approximately 600m in Higashichichibu Village, Saitama Prefecture. The defining feature is the vast 4-hectare meadow where a sea of bright red poppies blankets the sloping landscape. The striking contrast between the deep blue sky and the vivid red blossoms creates a view that can only be experienced here. During the peak blooming season, the area becomes a lively hub with various events, including the sale of local specialties and the appearance of food trucks, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers.
This area was originally used as mountain pastureland. To celebrate the changing seasons and provide a beautiful natural landscape, poppy cultivation was introduced to showcase the seasonal beauty of the region. Today, the community works together to promote this seasonal scenery, integrating local food culture and regional specialties to welcome visitors and celebrate the natural environment.

The greatest attraction is the sight of the red poppy carpet stretching out beneath you from the high altitude. Depending on your perspective, the vast slope offers different expressions of beauty. During the blooming period, food trucks from nearby Minano Town and Higashichichibu Village set up shop, allowing visitors to enjoy local flavors while gazing at the scenery. The intense contrast between the blue sky and red flowers makes this one of the most photogenic spots in the region.
The fields are primarily open from May to June. Because the opening dates and hours depend heavily on the actual blooming status of the flowers, it is highly recommended to check the latest information before your visit. Visiting during the bright daylight hours is ideal, as the sunlight makes the red petals appear even more vibrant against the sky. Since the event details and flower status change seasonally, always check the official updates.

You can enjoy a relaxing stroll through the vast poppy fields to immerse yourself in the seasonal colors. The area often features food trucks where you can sample local delicacies, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely time surrounded by nature. It is a wonderful way to experience the open air and the unique flavors of the Saitama countryside.
The venue is nestled in the nature-rich area of Higashichichibu. The surrounding region offers various outdoor activities, including hiking trails and nature observation spots. You can also visit local shops in nearby towns like Minano and Higashichichibu to find unique regional products and crafts.
