Tanshu Kannon-ji is a temple located in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture, widely celebrated as the 'Tanba Hydrangea Temple.' The most spectacular time to visit is from mid-June to late June, when approximately 10,000 hydrangeas of about 100 different varieties blanket the temple grounds. For those interested in Buddhist teachings, the temple also provides access to online videos of Dharma talks by the head priest from Koyasan. For collectors of Goshuin, the temple offers beautifully designed Goshuin-cho books featuring motifs of hydrangeas and the local chickens.
