The Tamukushigawa Cherry Blossom Trees is a renowned cherry blossom spot located along the banks of the Tamukushigawa River, which flows through the residential areas of eastern Yao City, Osaka. Approximately 700 Yoshino cherry trees line the river for about 5 kilometers, creating a magnificent landscape that harmonizes with the flowing water. A major highlight is the 'cherry blossom tunnel' effect, where the blossoms seem to lean in from both sides of the river, creating an immersive natural canopy.
This beautiful scenery has been nurtured through the cooperation of local residents. Since around 1965, the community has worked together to plant and maintain these cherry trees. The approximately 700 Yoshino cherry trees, grown through the dedicated efforts of the local people, have become a symbolic landscape and a source of pride for the region.
The most spectacular feature is the continuous 5-kilometer stretch of Yoshino cherry blossoms. From the riverside promenade, you can look up at a canopy of flowers that seems to cover the sky. The peak viewing season is typically from late March to mid-April, when the soft pink hues of the Yoshino blossoms reflect beautifully on the surface of the river.
The best time to visit is from late March to mid-April. The bright daylight hours during a warm spring day are when the cherry blossoms appear most vibrant and colorful. Please note that events such as cherry blossom festivals or illumination schedules may change annually, so it is highly recommended to check the latest information before your visit.
Visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll along the riverside paths while admiring the breathtaking cherry blossom tunnel. Walking through this long, 5-kilometer path allows you to fully immerse yourself in the rich natural scenery. It is a perfect way to experience the changing seasons of nature through a gentle walk.
The Tamukushigawa Cherry Blossom area is very close to Kintetsu Kawachi Yamamoto Station and Takayasu Station. Thanks to its excellent accessibility from the stations, you can easily combine your visit with exploring the surrounding residential and commercial areas.
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes for your stroll, as the riverside paths follow the natural terrain and may have uneven surfaces. While there is no entrance fee, it is convenient to carry some cash if you plan to purchase food or drinks at nearby shops. Please note that English signage is limited, so it is helpful to prepare information in advance.
