Located halfway up the scenic Mount Takao, the Takao Mt. Saru-en & Wild Grass Garden is a specialized facility where visitors can observe Japanese macaques and various wild mountain plants within their natural habitat. The Saru-en (Monkey Garden) houses approximately 90 macaques, allowing you to witness their social behaviors and daily lives up close. Complementing this, the adjacent Wild Grass Garden features a rich collection of about 300 species of wild plants, offering a beautiful display of seasonal colors and textures.
Mount Takao is renowned for its rich biodiversity and spiritual significance. In the Wild Grass Garden, the landscape changes beautifully with the seasons: you can find the Takao Violet in spring, Siegesbeckia (Rengetshoma) in summer, and various seasonal blooms in winter, providing a constantly evolving botanical experience.

Situated halfway up Mount Takao, the site is easily reached via the Takaosanguchi Station area. The location is perfectly positioned along the popular hiking routes that utilize the cable car or lift to ascend the mountain. There are ample parking facilities available near Takaosanguchi Station for those traveling by car.
