Takami no Sato is a renowned destination for weeping cherry blossoms (shidare-zakura), situated at an altitude of 650 meters in Higashiyoshino Village, Nara Prefecture. Nestled at the foot of Mt. Takami, this area features approximately 1,000 weeping cherry trees that transform the landscape into a stunning pink paradise during the spring. The crisp, clean air of the high-altitude environment enhances the ethereal beauty of the blossoms, making it a truly special place to witness nature's splendor.
The region is surrounded by the lush mountains of Yoshino, an area with a long history of living in harmony with nature. The weeping cherry blossom scenery at Takami no Sato is deeply connected to this natural environment. The changing expressions of the mountains throughout the seasons, combined with the seasonal blooms, continue to captivate visitors and preserve the cultural essence of the Yoshino region.

The greatest attraction is the vast expanse of weeping cherry trees. The "Sennen-no-oka Observatory" offers a breathtaking panoramic view where the cherry blossoms seem to stretch endlessly toward the horizon. Another must-visit area is the "Tenku no Niwa" (Sky Garden), where you can stroll through paths lined with cherry trees and feel the gentle transition of the seasons. The sight of pink petals dancing in the wind is a highlight that creates a constantly changing, dynamic landscape.
The best time to visit is in April. Most visitors arrive during the peak blooming season to witness the full splendor of the weeping cherry blossoms. Depending on the year, the peak may occur slightly later than the famous Yoshino cherry blossom season. We recommend visiting during daylight hours when the bright sunlight highlights the vibrant pink colors of the petals against the clear, high-altitude sky.
At Takami no Sato, you can enjoy peaceful walks through nature. Walking through the cherry blossom paths allows you to fully immerse yourself in the seasonal atmosphere. There are also shops on-site where you can enjoy light snacks and beverages, often featuring seasonal cherry blossom-themed items or local ingredients. It is a perfect place to relax and forget the stresses of daily life.
The Higashiyoshino area, where Takami no Sato is located, is blessed with abundant natural beauty. The surrounding landscape features the rolling mountains of Yoshino, offering excellent routes for driving and hiking. The area is accessible by car from the Osaka direction, making it easy to integrate into a larger travel itinerary involving other sightseeing spots in Nara Prefecture.
Because the site is located at an altitude of 650m, the temperature is often lower than in the lowlands. Please bring appropriate clothing for the cooler mountain air. It is important to note that many transactions on-site may require cash, so please prepare Japanese Yen in advance. To make your journey from the parking lot to the main destination comfortable, free shuttle buses and carts are available for your use.
